Termite Removal
Most of you have probably learned about termites at some point and have a general understanding of what these tiny bugs do—and that’s eat/damage wood. What you may not know is a single colony of termites can hold a million or more of these highly destructive insects capable of causing thousands of dollars in damage to your trees, home, or business. Green Pest Control Solutions of Tampa Bay guarantees to assist you by eliminating these wood-hungry pests through our affordable services.
When dealing with them, it’s important to first understand which type(s) are causing the destruction to your property. The two most common species are Subterranean Termites and Dry wood Termites. A few less common types include Damp wood and Conehead. Subterranean Termites live in soil and construct tiny channels in which they bring the food they forage down from the surface. They can make a meal out of anything wooden—from a fallen log to the structural foundation of your home or business.
Dry wood do not need soil in order to survive. They form colonies directly in deadwood and have even been known to live in furniture.
Damp wood are far less common and require a significant amount of moisture to insure their survival. For this reason, they’re rarely a concern for structural infestations, but shouldn’t be ruled out.
Conehead Termites were first discovered in Florida in the early 2000s and continue to pose a statewide threat to our citizens, although they’re currently most common in Southern Florida.
When it comes to termites, it’s best to get ahead of the infestation before property damage becomes highly extensive and often irreversible.
By the end it could end up costing you a small fortune. Fortunately, preventative steps are available to protect and secure your expensive property. Call us today and find out which of our services is perfect for you!
Termite Protection
Our termite protection program is based on the newest technology available. We take protecting your house seriously when it comes to these destructive pests. We will perform an initial inspection to ensure there are no current pressures and most likely make recommendations on what you can do to remediate potential issues. If there are no current issues, we will install bait stations around the perimeter of your house.
Previous technology was based on monitoring and then acting. These stations have bait that will remain active for up to three years so we can start killing termites as soon as they arrive. bait doesn’t kill on contact. Instead, it is taken back and passed around the colony. It prevents them from growing a new exoskeleton, generally killing the colony in around a month. This will prevent subterranean or Formosan from attacking your home.
What we do differently is, we will also come rectify damage from dry-wood termites as well. There is no preventative protections from dry woods. Most companies sell this as an additional a la carte service. They do minimal damage, and are easily removed with spot treatments. We will also re-inspect each year to ensure there are no new issues.
We will monitor them quarterly, and replace the bait cartridges any time them become water-logged or are more than 1/3 eaten by insects.
